Hi Bill. Just a bit of something I've picked up along the way...Nancy was the most commonly used nickname for girls named Ann (or Anne) in the 18th century and beyond. It appear Nancy was likely named Ann Elizabeth from her first appearance in Bartlett's 1850 household, enumerated as Ann E...and even more oddly, I've seen many an Ann Elizabeth with a birth record recorded time and again as "Nancy B" in documentation.
