Biography

Mary was born in Ireland. Her death is noted above as 1808^[1] She is the mother of Edward McEntee (1795-1875) as recorded in the 1860 ^[2]and 1855 New York Census.^[3]

Research notes

Regarding this NOTE: "Did Mary_________ possibly die in 1808 and the Mary listed in the census of 1850 and 1860 is Edward's wife's mother?" This is not Edward's wife's mother. Edward's wife's mother was not from Ireland. Three different census records state that Mary McEntee was from Ireland.Cox-27529 15:16, 25 February 2021 (UTC)

Text: "Our subject's paternal grandfather [meaning Patrick Henry McEntee],Charles McEntee, was a visionary man who had wonderful ideas regarding emigration to America. He was of a most sanguine temperment and generous to a fault, expected always to find riches to make up for his extravagance. After coming to America he was engaged in salt making at a place near where the city of Syracuse now stands, and there he and his wife died in 1806."
