Biography
Ann was born about 1735 which is estimated from her husband's estimated birth year. Her maiden name is unknown, she is only known as being the wife of Edmund based on her listing in the 1790 and 1800 Stokes County, NC censuses [1][2]. Based on that, she passed away after 1800. In the 1862 death record of her son Anthony, her name was given as Anna Witt[3].

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Ann by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Ann:
There appears to be no source or evidence to support Ann's last name at birth as Thompson. It's possible this was picked up in error because their son, Anthony, had a son named Edmund who married an Anna Thompson (dau. of Wm. and E. Thompson per her 1862 VA death record). It's since been repeated without source.
