Biography

On 19 Feb 1754, John Roe of the Province of North Carolina, Edgecombe County, sold for 25 pounds lawful money of Virginia, to Sherwood Grimsley 200 acres of land "on which the said Sherwood Grimsley now liveth", this tract being the land John had purchased from William Reves in 1749. [1] John's wife Sarah Roe, signed her mark in agreement of the sale, relinquishing her dower rights.[2]

Sarah died in North Carolina, sometime prior to 07 Oct 1776 as no relinquishment of dower is recorded on that date when her husband John sold their 300 acre tract of land in Halifax County, North Carolina.[3]
