Maria Catharina (van Eijsden) van Gorkom (bef. 1736 - 1814)

Biography

Catharina was a Roman Catholic.

Maria Catharina van Eijsden was the third daughter and 5th child of Maastricht residents, Arnoldus van Eijsden and Maria Elisabeth la Haije. She was baptised on June 15, 1736 in Maastricht, Condominium of the Dutch Republic and the Prince-Bishopric of Liège (now Limburg, Netherlands) and her godparents are listed as Petrus Nolle (uncertain relation to grandmother) and Anna Catherina Delaveu. ^[1]

Catharina first married Cornelius Dankers, probably sometime before the baptism date of their first child in 1760. They had four documented children:

1. Joannes - Baptised on June 16, 1760, in Nijmegen, Gelderland. ^{[2][3][4][5][6]}
2. Adrianus - Baptised on February 4, 1763, in Nijmegen, Gelderland. ^[7]
3. Thomas - Baptised on October 18, 1765, in Loon op Zand, Noord-Brabant. ^[8]
4. Cornelius - Baptised on November 26, 1768, in Loon op Zand, Noord-Brabant. ^[9]

Cornelius passed away some time before 1785, as she is listed as his widow in the marriage record of her second husband, Cornelius van Gorkom on May 15, 1785, in Loon op Zand, Noord-Brabant. ^[10] He passed away some time before 1814.

Catharina passed away on September 13, 1814 in Kerkstraat (near the parish church), Oisterwijk, Noord‑Brabant. Her death was reported by vriend van de overledene Michiel Brands and it is stated that she was geboren te Nameur (de partement de Samtre et Meuse), en wonende binne deze gemeente. ^[11][12]
