Biography

Johannes was born to Gerrith van Rijswijk and Beatrix van Sandwijk, and he was baptised on the 23rd of June, 1748, in the Protestant Church in Maurik[1].

Johannes married Neeltje Cornelisse van Lienden. They announced their marriage in Lienden, on the 14th of April[2]. On the same day, there is also a record stating that they were lawfully betrothed in Lienden, and had their three marriage proclamations in Echteld. They were prevented from marrying in Echteld, and so decided to marry elsewhere[3]. They then announced in the Protestant congregation in Maurik that they would be marrying on the 4th of May[4].
