According to Henry E. Waldrop, The father of Tillman Waldrop was William Waldrop and his mother was Elizabeth Bailey. This comes from and interview he did with Oscar Russell, Executive Director, National Research Foundation, in February 1955.

Oscar Russell is not credible.

He made too many mistakes.

Henry Elford Waldrop Interviewed Dr. Russell for several hours, taking copious notes, then put them together in a Sketch of William Waldrop's ancestors. He gave a copy of that sketch to my father, Charlie Clell Peterson. Dr. Russell had sound credentials as an academician and Henry E. Waldrop was the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Shelby, NC at the time. I have no reason to doubt the credibility of either, nor do I find anything substantive to cast his research into question. If you have documentation that does so, please post it. The biographical sketch of Dr. Russell found at the site below gives me strong reason to believe his research and testimony. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/88294052/george-oscar-russell

First, he asserted that his ancestor was Phebe Waltrip of Wythe Co VA. Who married a Johnston.

Phebe was born and died a Waltrip. No evidence of a connection to a Johnston. Second, he asserted that John, son of Jechonias, left Rutherford and went to Giles Co Tn. Had Elvira Miller as a wife and children.

No evidence of that has been found. YDNA test results disproved that.

There is no evidence for the name of William's wife. None. Anywhere. The documentation of Oscar Russell have never seen the light of day..

Howard, Tillman is the brother of Margaret Waldrop. She named a son after him. All of this line including the Callahan's is Paula's line including the middle name Bailey. Please consider.
