Biography

James was born about 1824 in Kentucky and is said to be the son of John Wallace and Frances Taylor, ^[1] but no primary source can be found for his parents.

James's unsourced Find A Grave memorial shows his date of birth as 01 Sep 1822, ^[2] but census records show his date of birth as about 1824. The latter is used here.

He married on 25 May 1842 at Ohio County, Kentucky to Matilda Ann Ward ^[3] and they had children: ^{[4] [5]}
