Biography

Matthew Wallace, son of Ezekiel Wallace and Margaret McKnitt (Alexander) Wallace, was born in 01 March 1762 in Cecil, Maryland.[1]

He married Mildridge, or Mildred, Allen, daughter of John Allen and Agnes (Sample) Allen, on 12 May 1785 in Mecklenburg, North Carolina.[1]

Matthew died on 6 Feb, 1837[1] in Marshall County, Tennessee.

Matthew wrote is will which was submitted to probate on 19 Jan. 1837 in Marshall County, Tennessee. He identified his wife Mildred, son Ezekiel, daughter Sally Cowen, deceased, and her children Stewart Cowen, William Cowen, Prudence Caroline Cowen, married but married name not known; daughters Mildred Ragsdelle, Margaret Scott; daughter-in-law Sophera Wallis widow of WIlliam Wallis; his grandsons: James Wallis, McKenzie W. Wallis, and Matthew W. Wallis sons of Matthew S. Wallis. The family name is spelled both as Wallace and as Wallis in the document.[2]
