When John B. Washburn was born on November 29, 1789, in Mason, Virginia, his father, Benjamin (1752-1841), was 37 and his mother, Mary (Beason, 1755-1824), was 34.[1] He married the widow of John T. Robinson, Mrs. Frances "Fanny" (Jett) Robinson (1783-1727), on September 21, 1809 in Bracken County, Kentucky[2] and they had five children:
He then married Nancy Ann Malin (1805-1878) on November 11, 1834 in Drennon Ridge (Henry County), Kentucky[3] and they had five children:
He died on March 8, 1840, in Shelby, Kentucky, at the age of 50, and was buried in Ursa, Illinois.[7]

There is a question as to his birth year; some family members have it as 1789 and others as 1793 Fairfax Co, VA.
He died after 1840, as he is found in that Census of Adams Co, IL. He most likely is buried in the Old Part of New Providence Cemetery. He was instrumental in helping organize the Old Stone Church aka Primitive Baptist Church in this cemetery.
