Christina drowned when the steamer Montreal burned and sank off Cap-Rouge, Quebec on 26 June 1857. Her sister Elizabeth and mother Agnes also perished in the disaster.[1]
She is buried in the Mount Hermon Cemetery in Quebec City with her sister Elizabeth and their mother. The burial register gives her age incorrectly as 36.[2]
