- Mary was born in 1941 and passed away in 2023.
Obituary
- Mary Elizabeth Spinks passed on to her Heavenly reward while surrounded by her family on April 18, 2023. She was 82 years young. Mary was born on March 2, 1941.
- Mary spent her early years in Anderson County, and at a young age, of just 15, she married Dairl Spinks. Together, they spent most of their 43 year marriage in Shelby County, where they raised their five children.
- Mary blessed and served many families through her honorable social work with the Cabinet for Families and Children. She took great pride in her work and retired in 2002. She was proudly named a Kentucky Colonel in 1993 by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
- Mary was an avid homemaker. She loved sewing, cooking and crafting. She also loved teaching others these skills.
- Mary was longterm member of New Life Baptist Church of Waddy where she served as a Sunday School teacher along with many other activities wthin the church and community. She was an enthusiastic member of her beloved Shelby County Homemakers Club. She was often the first to volunteer when needed. Mary particularly loved modeling in the Homemakers Club Fashion Show each year.
- Mary was preceded in death by her husband Dairl, and is survived by her five children: Dale Spinks (late Jackie), Marilyn Colston (Coleman), Angela DeLosSantos (Emilio), James Spinks (Karen), and Justin Spinks (Lori). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and countless friends.
- She will be deeply missed by those who loved her, but we find hope in knowing that she is at rest with her Savior.
- Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the Shannon Funeral Home. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial is at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
