William was born on 14 Apr 1840 in Tennessee. He was the son of Malachi Watts and Susan Toler. He passed away in Muldrow, Oklahoma on 7 Nov 1904 and was buried in the Muldrow Memorial Garden, Muldrow, Oklahoma..[1]
1860 Census: Jefferson Watts is living with his parents, Malachi (66) and Susan (50) Watts, in the Sprada Township of Johnson County, Arkansas. The record noted that Jefferson was 20 years old and born in Tennessee. Also residing in the home were Jefferson's siblings Martha (15), Mahala (12), and Malachi (10).[2]
6 Jun 1866: W. J. Watts and Martha C. Blackard (16) were married in Clarksville, Johnson County, Arkansas. The record noted that W. J. was 26 years old and a resident of Johnson County, Arkansas.[3][4]
1870 Census: William J. and Martha (20) Watts are living in the Sprada Township of Johnson County, Arkansas. The record shows that William was 30 years old and born in Tennessee. The couple have 2 children in their home: Mary S. (3) and Martha (1). Also listed as a memeber of the household was Isabella Wallace (18).[5]
