Thomas was born on 10 Jan 1698[1] to Thomas (son of Samuel (son of Gov. Thomas)) and his first wife Thankful Root. He married Mary Chester on 14 Jun 1733[1]. He died circa 1753[1].

[2]Thomas Welles, of Wethersfield, Conn., was married to Mary Chester, daughter of Thomas Chester, of the same town, June 14, 1738. Capt. Thomas Welles died in 1753.

The claim in Root Genealogical Records[3] that he died on 10 Dec 1711 is easily refuted by details of his guardianship in the probate records of his father[4].
