Biography

Oswald Werge was born in 1770, son of John Werge & his wife, Margaret . He was christened at Chatton on 7th October the same year^[1][2]

He was an officer in the 17th Light Dragoons, entering the regiment at a Cornet in 1793, serving with them in the West Indies.^[3][4]

He married Ellen Dean on 21 Jan 1805 in Bolton-le-Moors, ^[1][5]

He died on 4 Sep 1831 and was buried in Millbrook, Hampshire on 10 Sep 1831.^[1][6][7]

There is a memorial tablet to him, his wife and their two sons in St Mary's Church, Ulverston.^[8]
