Biography

U.S. Southern Colonies Project logo
James Westbrook Jr. was a Virginia colonist.

James M Westbrook Jr. was born sometime between 1649-1664, in Virginia, to James M Westbrook Sr. and (possibly) his wife Mary Elizabeth Puckett.[1]

On January 3, 1697, James married Elizabeth Puckett, in Henrico County, Virginia, and together had six children:

  1. John Westbrook, b. 1684, d. 13 Feb 1719
  2. William Westbrook, b. 1694 , d. 1774
  3. James Westbrook III, b. 1695, d. 23 Jul 1733
  4. Frances Westbrook, b. 1698, d. unk.
  5. Henry Westbrook, b. 1698, d. unk.
  6. Margaret Westbrook, b. 1700, d. unk.

In around 1691 he was mentioned at the Charles City County Court in a statement reading: "James Westbrooke's mark is a cropp on each ear and a slitt down each cropp and a half moon under each ear."[2]

James is believed to have passed away in Virginia sometime between 1717-1733.[1]

Research Note

Y-DNA testing of Curtis Littleberry Land's male-line descendant, Nic Land, indicates James to likley be Cutris' biological father, which is further supported by the Charles City County Court Orders book which shows James to have been a resident of Charles City, VA around the same time as Curtis' recorded parents.[3][4]
