Biography

Benjamin was born in 1762 in Sutton Veney, Wiltshire. His parents were Robert and Elizabeth.

Banjamin married Elizabeth Sanger in April 1786 in Sutton Veney but she passed away in 5 years later and he was widowed aged 28. 2 years later in 1793 he remarried, to Harriot Dutch at Sutton Veney.

Benjamin and Harriot had at least 6 children including a son called Rice. Their daughter Sarah died as a young child. On his daughter, Judith's marriage certificate he is listed as Robert so perhaps that is how he was known.

We can tell from the children's baptism and marriage records that Benjamin was a gardener. Sutton Veny house had been built sometime in the early 1800's, perhaps he worked there.

He passed away in Sutton Veney, where he had spent his whole life, aged 76 in 1839.
