Thomas was the son of Thomas White MP of Poole and Fiddleford in Dorset and his wife Anne Williams. He was born in around 1560, and was 30 years old when he came into his inheritance in 1590) [1]
Education
"Thomas , son and heir to Thomas White of Fytelford Dorset was admitted to the Middle Temple 7th Dec 1571; called[to the bar] 26th November 1577".[2]
Marriage and Children
Thomas White married Frances Martin at St Mary, Puddletown (the parish church for Athelhampton) on 24th September 1577 [3]
After the death of her father, Nicholas Martyn, Frances inherited a quarter of his estate, and also inherited land estates from her mother, a co-heir of Nicholas Wadham.
[4]
Martin 30 years and more at his fathers death in 1626 but admitted to Middle Temple in November 1598 .Married to Ann who died 1610,(IQM) They had a son Thomas who was married to Arbella in 1630 [6] son John admitted to Inner Temple 1634 [7] ??? born about 1580
As a landowner, an Inquisition post mortem was held after his death[9]
"Taken at Sturminster Newton Castle 29 Sept Charles 1 (ie 1626)
Thomas White seized of manor of Fittleford and of 5 messuages, 4 tofts, one dovecote, 5 gardens, 70 acres of wood, the several fishings of water of the Stour and common pasture in Fittleford, Bell, Sturminster Newton, Ockford Fitzpayne and Corffe Hubert"... :Thomas and Francisca, deforciants, of all the said premises to the intent that Martin White son of the said Thomas should have beside the said manor, mansion house and mill of Fittleford ...
This is followed by a description of the quarter of the extremely large Athelhampton estates inherited by his wife Frances.
Fiddleford itself lies between a number of parishes and the Fittleford (Fiddleford) lands were held from other neighbouring large landowners of the manors of Childe Okeford, Bell, Shilling Okeford and Okeford Fitzpaine. Properties in Corfe Mullen (Molyn) , Corfe Hubert and Sturminster Marshall were held from the Webbe family of Canford (Thomas White of Poole who originally bought Fiddleford was married to Cicely Webbe) Property in Quitttance and Ibberton were held from Thomas Freke.
The son and heir was Martin who was '30 years and more at the time of his fathers death. Martin had been married to an Ann (possibly d of Sir George Ralegh) but she had died at Wimborne in 8 James 1(1610/11)
His wife Frances had died on 1st June 1625
The order of succession suggests the birth order of his sons
immediately after the decease of the said Thomas and Francisca White to the use of the said Martin White: and afterwards successively in tail male to the use of the 1st to 7th and every other son of the said Martin White; for default, the remainder thereof to the use of John White another son of the said Thomas, and of his heirs male; for default, the remainder thereof to the use of Henry White another son of the said Thomas, and of his heirs male; for default, the remainder thereof to the use of Thomas White another son of the said Thomas, and of his heirs male; for default, the remainder thereof to the use of Bartholomew White another son of the said Thomas, and of his heirs male; for default, the remainder thereof to the use of George White another son of the said Thomas, and of his heirs male
Research Notes
No proof/evidence/source has been found connecting Thomas White (1599-1679 Weymouth) to thomas White & Francesca Martin. White-141 has been disconnected.
Thomas White of Fiddleford, Dorset is sometimes assumed to have been the father of Thomas White, the 1635 immigrant to New England. Elizabeth French Bartlett made an extensive search for the origin of Thomas White among the White families at Ravenstone, Buckinghamshire, and Fiddleford, Dorset. Each of the sons named Thomas were "demonstrably eliminated as the New England immigrant."[10]
He was not a captain so the Captain prefix has been removed. He was a relatively wealthy landowner who married a lady who herself became became a very wealthy heiress because her brothers had died. He and his family were mostly catholics and Thomas probably Thomas, the heir of Martin fought as a Major in the Royalist army during the Civil war.

Not mentioned in grandfather's will written June 1555 but he died Dec 1556 (all other grandsons mentioned by name and were default heirs)
Was said to be 30 at IPM which is where about 1560 comes from.
But admitted to Middle Temple 1571 called 1577 (also year of marriage)
Wonder if more likely to have been born in 1556 making him 21 at call to the bar (still seems young) and at marriage.

What is the connection between Edith Stanter and Thomas Weed?
Edith married Roger Stanter of Horningsham in Wilts .
https://archive.org/stream/visitationofdors00harvuoft#page/46/mode/2up
There is no indication that this is a second marriage as it would have to be if she had a son called Thomas Weed in 1570
The IGI for Horningsham has indexed baptisms for sons of a Roger Stanter: Bamfild Stanter 1577, (Edith's sister married a Bamfild )
Francis, 1580,
William 1581
John 1583. http://www.archersoftware.co.uk/igi/fs-entry.htm?C153331
(no real connection with the family, came across them through the Sourcerer's project and got interested . I know the area quite well as my husband's family comes from the parish in which Fiddleford is situated)
