Biography

Caleb Whiting was born in Norwich Connecticut, 11 July 1729 to William Whiting and Ann Raymond (Barbour transcript ^[1]).

Caleb married 8 March 1756 at Norwich, Connecticut, Lois (Lyon; 1726-1786) ^[2]. Seven children are documented from this marriage:

• Anne Whiting, b. 26 Oct 1756 ^[3]; died soon after birth
• Lucy Whiting, b. 1759 ^[4]
• Martha Whiting (1761 - 1848) ^[5]
• Ebenezer Whiting (1763 - 1834) ^[6]
• Abigail Whiting, b. 1766 ^[7]
• William Whiting (1768 - 1848) ^[8]
• Caleb Raymond Whiting (1771 - 1849) ^[9]

Caleb's first wife died in 1786 ^[10], after which he married second, in 1789 in Bozrah, Connecticut, Mary Loomer (1734 - 1814).

Caleb and remaining portions of his family were counted in census records of New London County, Connecticut, in 1790 and 1800 ^[11],^[12]. According to his online memorial site, Caleb Whiting was a farmer.

Caleb Whiting died 1 March 1814 at Bozrah, Connecticut. His grave is represented to be in Harris Cemetery, Bozrah, New London County, Connecticut, USA ^[13]. No grave marker is depicted.

Notes

Mary Loomer, the second wife of Caleb Whiting, likely was a daughter of Samuel Loomer (1692-1786) and Hannah (Morgan; 1697-1787).
