Biography
Everett "Joe" was born in 1936. He is the son of Everett Whitten and Irma Booker.[1] He passed away in 2012.[2]

I've been able to take a look at the link you provided to your ancestor. If we have a common ancestor, I think it goes back further than that. The Whitten surname is fairly common in York county.
It's a distinct possibility. My parents and grandparents grew up in East waterboro. I'll check out the lineage a little later, I'm headed to work.
