Joseph, the fifth of sixteen children of Elisha Whitten and Elizabeth Jeffers was born on 26 July 1811 at Scarborough, Massachusetts, which was annexed by Maine in 1820.[1]
Marriage and Children
Joseph, occupation Machinist, married Rebecca Babb (1809-1879) on 6 August 1837 at Westbrook, Maine.[2]They had a daughter born at Maine:
Isidore F. Whitten (b. 1852; d. 1879, Gloucester, MA)
In 1860, Joseph (48 years, b. ME, occupation Operative), wife Rebecca (51 years, b. ME) and daughter Isidore (9 years, b. ME) were living at Westbrook, Cumberland, Maine.[3]
Death
Joseph Whitten died on 23 April 1888 in his 77th year at Illinois. [Needs source].
