Biography

Eliza Wilde was born at Southhampton, Hampshire, England on July 10, 1839 the daughter of William Wilde and Eliza Phillips. She emigrated, with her family, to the United States in 1859. She lived with her husband George Henry Peterson after their marriage on March 13, 1860; first at Weber City (later named Peterson) then at Morgan in Morgan County, Utah. In about 1871 they moved to Coalville, Summitt, County, Utah. Family of Eliza Wilde and about her father William Wilde[1] and family.

Eliza and George had nine children between 1861 and 1878. In 1881 they were living in Almy, Lincoln County, Wyoming and subsequently lived in Evanston, Diamondville, and Cumberland in Wyoming until about 1904 when George died. Eliza died May 30, 1909 at Coalville, Summit, Utah and was buried there on May 31, 1909. Children of George Henry Peterson and Eliza Wilde: George William Peterson (1861-1963) Eliza Sophronia Peterson (1863-1926) Mary Elizabeth Peterson (1864-1919) Charles Henry Peterson (1866-1953) (link) Charles H Peterson Ann Bunting Peterson (1868-1956) Joseph Edmund Peterson (1873-1873) Maude Amelia Peterson (1875-1895) Thomas Dennis Peterson (1877-1877) John Fredrick Peterson (1878-1925)

Notes for George Henry Peterson: Of special interest, as an earnest and conscientious member of the Mormon church, he carried into practice their doctrine of plurality of wives and was the first man arrested in Wyoming under the law against "unlawful cohabitation". Abiding, like a dutiful citizen, by the action of the courts, he put away two of his three wives retaining the one pronounced his lawful wife, yet continuing to support the others. Burried: Coalville, Summit, Utah
