Rebecca married William P. Merritt on August 29, 1839. (He was the brother of her sister Catherine's husband.) Rebecca and Richard had six children.^[1] Bondsman for their marriage was Peter Wilhelm, father of bride. They were married by Absalom C Dempsey (Baptist minister)
