Biography

Eustice was born in 1894 in Georgia. He is the son of Robert Wilhite and Hannah Phillips. In 1900, the family was living in Rabun County, Georgia.[1] By 1910, his father had passed and he was living with his widowed mother and siblings, Bazine, Jewel and Ewart, in Pelzer Central Ward, Anderson County, South Carolina.[2]

He enlisted in the US Navy on 14 Nov 1913 during World War I. He then reenlisted on 06 Apr 1917.[3] He served on the Naval ship USS Yukon during World War II.[4]

By 1940, Eustace had moved to Miami, Dade County, Florida.[5] He was still single.

He retired from the US Navy, as Chief Gunner's Mate.[6]

He passed away in 1973. Burial was in the Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Anderson, Anderson County, South Carolina. His marker is inscribed: CGM US Navy World War I & II.[7]
