Biography

Elizabeth was born about 1710. She passed away after 1778. Her maiden name is not known. There are some that believe her first name could have been Nancy and some believe without evidence that her maiden name was Chesley or Wilson. It was a theory that she might have been a Chesley, since John and Elizabeth Bostick had a son named Chesley. There are no records to verify either of these suppositions.

Following are the records found to date for Elizabeth (née --?--) Bostick.

Pittsylvania Co., Deed Book 4, p 124 releases quit claims to 200 acres on Dan River

John Bostick died in 1767 in GA. This is evidenced by a Quit Claim Deed, signed by Elizabeth Bostick in Pennsylvania Co. VA. on 25 March 1775. This deed states, Elizabeth Bostick releases all rights to that land that Valentine Hatcher sold Sylvester Adams in Pittsylvania Co. that lies on the Dan River which he had of John Bostick, her husband totaling 200 acres. And 1777 Pittsylvania VA, relinquished her dowry rights to property that John had previously sold.[3]

Chessley-2 and Unknown-531108 appear to represent the same person because: Duplicate - Chessley-2 was created as the wife of John Bostick. However, there is no evidence that Chessley was Elizabeth's maiden name. This profile needs to be merged into Unknown-531108.

For many years, it has been speculated that John Bostick's wife, Elizabeth, may have been a Chesley or a Floyd or maybe a Wilson. However there is no record that supports or proves any of these last names at her birth. To list any names that are not proven is a deterrent to further research to find the birth name for Elizabeth.

Unknown-531108 and Wilson-15762 are not ready to be merged because: There is no evidence that Elizabeth's maiden name was Wilson. The maiden name "Wilson" needs to be removed until a record is found that proves she was a Wilson or who her parents might have been.

These two profiles are obviously for the same person. They have almost identical birth and death dates. They're married to the same man and they have the same children. If there is no evidence that her maiden name is Wilson, then the final profile should be Unknown-531108. That will take care of removing the maiden name of Wilson. This is not a reason for not completing the merge. I've proposed it again. Please agree to complete the merge. Thanks!

I have done extensive research on John Bostick, born 1709/1710. John's wife is given as Elizabeth in at least five different records. There is no evidence she ever went by Nancy or that her maiden name was Wilson. John's brother, William, married Micha Floyd around 1735. When William and Micha married, she was the widow of Richard Wilson. There is a will for Richard Wilson and Court records in Goochland and Cumberland County that gives information on the Floyd, Wilson, Burgamy, and Wilson families. For now, genealogy records should list John Bostick's wife as "Elizabeth Unknown". Hopefully, we can find a Virginia record to find the identity of the family of John's wife, Elizabeth.
