Joseph married Elizabeth Shinn in 1806 in Harrison, Virginia.[1]
In 1830, Joseph and Elizabeth were residing in Harrison County, Virginia.[2]
By 1840, Joseph, Elizabeth and their children had relocated to Morgan County, Missouri.[3]
According to Shinn's 1903 work,[4] Elizabeth and Joseph had the following children:
Michael Shinn Wilson, b in Virginia, 1806; married Celia Campbell and moved to Southern Missouri, where he died leaving a family.
Thomas R. Wilson, b. 1808; married Rebecca Reading, and moved to Northern Missouri, where he died leaving a family.
Joseph H. Wilson, b. 1810; ob. Missouri
Solomon W. Wilson, b. 1813, m. Sarah McPherson, and moved to the State of Washington, where he died leaving a family
Eliza Wilson, b. 1815; m. William Callison
Jonathon Wilson, b. 1818; m. Sarah Callison; ob. in Southern Missouri
James R. Wilson, b. 1821; m. Sarah Davis; to Missouri; ob. in Texas
Sophia W. Wilson, b. 1823; m. E. C. Brown, in 1850; moved to Versailles, Mo., where she was living in 1903, the only remaining child, except her sister Harriet, of this large family
William H. Wilson, b. 1828; d. on and was buried in the ocean
Harriet W. Wilson, b. 1834; m. B. G. Bowlin; moved to Versailles, Mo., where she now resides (1903)
Of interest is the 1850 Census for Moreau, Morgan County, Missouri. Many of the children of Joseph and Elizabeth are residing in very close proximity to one another.
The families were numbered in the order of their visitation by the enumerator.
93 Solomon W. Wilson, 37, Farmer born in Virginia; household includes Sarah, 26, b. KY; Michael, 6, B. MO; Mary E. 4, b. MO; Rebecca, 1, B. MO
97 James Wilson, 28, Laborer born Virginia
98 William Callison, 36, b. KY; Eliza Callison, 36, b. Virginia plus children in household; indicates married within the last year following William and Eliza’s names
99 William H. Wilson, age 22, Laborer born in Virginia; no one else in household
100 Cyrus C. Brown, 22, b. KY; Sophia Brown, 24, b. Virginia; Harriet Wilson, 15, born Virginia; indicates married within the last year following Cyrus and Sophia’s names
Solomon and James are located here and the rest are located on the following page here.
Because neither Joseph or Elizabeth can be located in 1850, they likely died prior to this date.
