Alice Wilson was the first female geologist hired by the Geological Survey of Canada, the first Canadian woman to be admitted to the Geological Society of America, and the first female Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. The Canadian government recognized her as a Person of National Historic Significance in 2018.[1]
Born in Cobourg, Ontario, in 1881,[2] she was the third child of Richard Wilson, a druggist, and Mary Adelia Kingston.[3]
She died in 1964 and was buried at Cobourg Union Cemetery.[4]
