"Grandmother and Grandfather came to America about 1831 or 1832 on a sailing vessel. They were caught in storms and were three months at sea, being blown down to the Indies and back upto Newfoundland, before landing in the U.S. They expected first born to be born in America. They went first to Amboy, then to Thompsonville, Connecticut, where he got work as a weaver in carpets. Then started a bakery. They returned to Amboy about 1851. (There are more or less discrepancies in some of the dates but these are near enough)."

This was a large dairy making cheese and butter, my dearl old grandmother taking care of both. I remember that they had a very large dog who did all the churning on a tread mill and every morning he could never be found--he hated his job."
