Albert Beaumont Wood OBE is Notable.

Albert Beaumont was born 21 December 1890. He was the son of Joseph Wood and Emma Beaumont. ^{[1] [2]}

In 1916 at Saddleworth, he married Ethel Whitehead Buckley. ^[3]

He was a pioneering British physicist, specializing in sonar and underwater acoustics. He was awarded the OBE in 1939 for his work on dismantling a German mine.

He passed away 19 July 1964 at 6 Saddleworth Fold, Uppermill. ^[4]
