Biography

Robert Woodson Jr. was born in 1660 in Curles, Henrico County, Virginia.

Robert Woodson Jr. and Rachel Watkins proposed their Intention of Marriage first on 2 November 1710, and second on 9 December 1710 at the Quaker Meeting in Henrico County. They then married before April 1711.

He died before February 1729/30 in Curles, Henrico County, Virginia.[1]

In his Will, Robert makes bequests as follows:

  • son Stephen (land that came to my possession by marriage with his mother; 50 acres of land which did once belong to John Lewis)
  • son Joseph (parcel of land in Goochland County on beginning on the west side Jennytoe Creek at a corner poplar, up the Creek to Rorksy branch, up Rorksy branch to Joseph Parson’s line to the fork, up the main branch to a corner double poplar, and so bounded by the westward lines of the patent; one negro man named Jack, one feather bed with bedstand, all furniture thereunto belonging, my own gun)
  • son Robert (residue of land in Goochland on Jennytoe Creek; one negro man named York, all my tradesman tools, one new feather bed and colster rugg, a pair of blankets)
  • son Jonathan (parcel of land near White Oak Swamp lying between the land of Richard Cocke, Edward Mosby & Harryson; one negro man named Pompey; both him and his estate to be under the guardianship of my son Stephen until he is 18)
  • daughter Elizabeth (one negro girl named Aggy, one feather bed with Virginia Tirk bedstead, furniture)
  • son Jonathan (one feather bed and furniture being a new bed)
  • daughter Judith (one negro girl named Nanney, one feather bed, spotted silk rug, and all thereunto belonging to her, one seal skin trunk)
  • daughter Agnes (one negro child named Sue)
  • daughter Sarah (one cow and calf)
  • son Stephen (one negro woman named Jeney in consideration of his care of my children that are in their minoraty and their estates, and also in consideration of the faithful performance of which he shall execute as my Executor both in the Learning good Councill and care of them and their estates and his trouble about exedcuting my will to him and his heirs forever).

31 M i Stephen Woodson 1 was born 2 about 1682. He died 3 before May 1761. Stephen had a will probated in May 1761 in Henrico Co., VA. Stephen married Mary Woodson 1 daughter of Joseph Richard Woodson and Mary Jane Woodson. Mary was born 2 about 1706. She died 3 in 1733/1800.
32 M ii Joseph Woodson 1 was born 2 about 1685 in Henrico Co., VA. He died 3 in 1715/1776. Joseph married 2 Elizabeth Mattox 1 daughter of John Mattox Jr. and Margaret Kent about 1709. Elizabeth was born about 1692 in New Kent Co., VA. She died 3 in 1714/1782.
33 M iii Robert Woodson 1 was born 2 about 1687. He died 3 in1688/1777.
34 F iv Elizabeth Woodson 1 was born 2 about 1689 in Henrico Co., VA. She died before 1766 in Henrico Co., VA. Elizabeth married 2 John Povall 1 son of Robert Povall and Elizabeth Hooker about 1710 in Henrico Co., VA. John was born in 1684 in Henrico Co., VA. He died 3 on 10 Oct 1749 in Henrico Co., VA.
Robert married (2) Sarah Lewis 1 daughter of John Lewis and Sarah in Oct 1691 at St. John's Church, Henrico Co., VA.[2][3][4] Sarah was born 2 about 1663 in Henrico Co., VA. She died in 1710 in Henrico Co., VA.

36 F vi Mary Woodson 1 was born 2 about 1695. Mary signed a will in1769. She had a will probated in 1774. Mary married Stephen Sampson about 1728.
37 F vii Agnes Woodson 1 was born 2 about 1697 in Henrico Co., VA. She died 3 in 1726/1791. Agnes married 2 Richard Williamson 1 about 1720. Richard was born3 in 1675/1700. He died 4 about Apr 1774.

Robert married (3) Rachel Watkins 1 daughter of Henry Watkins and Katherine Pride on 12 Feb 1710/1711 in Henrico Meeting House, Henrico Co., VA. Rachel was born about 1664 in Henrico Co., VA. She died before1729 in Henrico Co., VA. Children (surname WOODSON):
