Biography

Born in Vermont. He marries Eliza Rust in 1826, and they have 11 kids together in Vermont and New Hampshire before the family moves west to Iowa sometime before 1870. Eliza dies that year in Fort Dodge, IA. Within 4 months, Seymour remarries. He and Harriet Jane Brewer Brown are married in Fort Dodge on Aug 9, 1870. Harriet has a daughter Emma Brown from her first marriage. The family moves from Fort Dodge to Sioux City, IA. In the next 10 years Harriet and Seymour have 6 more kids, 4 of which survive infancy, one dying in childhood, 3 living to adulthood. There were probably more children born to his first wife that did not live, since an article about the birth of Seymour and Harriet's last child, born when Seymour was 75 years old, was said to be his 19th child. The family moved from Iowa to Georgia between 1880 and 1884. Seymour dies in Edwardsville, GA (outside Atlanta) on August 30 of that year at age 79. His burial place is uncertain.
