He was baptised on 9 March 1880 at St Mary Magdalene, Paddington, Westminster, England. His father was a Captain RA, of 53 Victoria Road, Kensington.
In the UK Census of 1881 Lionel (aged 1) was living with his parents George (aged 41) and Florence (37), along with his three siblings George (5), Hubert (2) and Dorothy (0) at 33 The Common, Woolwich, Kent, England. Also in the household were five household staff.
England and Wales Census, 1891: Recorded with his mother Florence at Cambridge Gardens, Richmond, Surrey, England. He was by now 11 and a scholar. Also in the household were his three siblings Hubert (12), Dorothy (10) and Basil (7), and two household staff.
He joined the Royal Navy as a Cadet.
Sadly Lionel died in 1894, drowned while boating at Dartmouth.

NAVY
Cadet Lionel Charles Sydney Wymer, R.N., third son of Major G. B. Wymer, late Royal Artillery, was unfortunately drowned while boating at Dartmouth on Nov. 10. The deceased officer, who had but recently passed into the Britannia, was 14 years of age.[2]
