Mariya Yaremchuk is a Ukrainian singer and actress who represented Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, held in Copenhagen, Denmark. She finished the 6th in the grand final out of 26 countries.
Mariya was born in 1993. She is the daughter of singer Nazariy Yaremchuk and his second wife, Daryna. Mariya's father died of stomach cancer when she was two years old. Mariya has an older half-sister, Vera, from her mother's first marriage and two brothers by her father's side, Dmytro and Nazariy.
In 2012, Mariya was a finalist on the television show Holos Krainy, reaching fourth place. That same year, she represented Ukraine at New Wave 2012, an international contest for young singers, where she came in third. In 2013, she participated in Evrobachennya 2013 – Natsionalyni vidbir, the national final used for finding Ukraine's representative in the Eurovision Song Contest, coming in fifth place with the song "Imagine". On 21 Dec 2013, Mariya won the Ukrainian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, with her song "Tick-Tock". She ultimately finished sixth out of 26 countries in the Eurovision Grand Final.
After the Eurovision Song Contest, Mariya released a string of singles, including a cover of her father's signature song Rodyna, which she released in 2015 on the twentieth anniversary of his passing.
In 2018, Mariya appeared in her first film role, The Legend of Carpathians, which premiered at the 70th Cannes Film Festival. In the film, Mariya portrays Marichka, the lover of folkhero Oleksa Dovbush. .
