According to her son, Philip "Dave" Daniel, she was born in Ohio, of Scotch, Irish, and English descent. She married A.W. Daniel, who worked as a farmhand for her father. She and A.W. had 10 children: 5 boys and 5 girls. 2 girls died in childhood years; the rest reached adulthood. Mary and A.W. owned and operated a meat market in Monroe, Iowa for years before moving to Missouri and working on a farm. In later years, Mary moved back to Marysville where she spent her girlhood with her husband. She died at 86½ years old.
