He was the son of Kasriel Zanitsky and Bella Breznik.[3]
In 1920, six year old Sol (shown as Sal) lived at 221 South 3rd Street in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, United States with his father Kasriel (shown as Kessler, age 37), mother Bella (age 37), and siblings Samuel (age 21), Israel (shown as Isidor (age 15) and Harry (age 12). Beatrice (age 19) is also shown as a daughter, however she was either a boarder with her last name incorrectly shown or Becky with her first name incorrectly shown. His father was a tailor in a factory, Samuel was a "special at BRT", and Israel was a clerk in a clothing office.[3]
In 1930, the family's last name was shown as Zanit. Sixteen year old Sol lived at 32 Bay 23rd Steet in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, United States with his father Kasriel (age 58), mother Bella (shown as Belle, age 58), and brother Harry (age 22). His father was a fur nailer, Harry was a car starter, and Sol was a screen door mechanic.[4]
Sol married Celia Goldstein March 12 or June 6 of 1936 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, United States[5]
and they had at least two children (see Notes).
In 1940, Sol (age 25) and Celia (age 25) paid $29.60 per month rent for their apartment at 178 Stagg Walk in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, United States. They lived there with children Barbara (age 2) and Bernice (age 1). Sol was a fur salesman in a fur factory.[6]
Sol lived at at 178 Stagg Walk in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, United States and worked as a salesman for his brother-in-law Jacob (Grüngras) Green at 330 Seventh Avenue in Manhattan, New York, New York, United States when he registered for the World War II draft October 16, 1940. He was 5' 9" tall, weighed 195 lbs., had brown eyes and brown hair, and his nearest relative was his wife Celia.[2]
