Challenge of the week: Improve orphaned profiles

Hi WikiTreers,

Will you join our "Data Doctors" Challenge of the week?

Once again, Aleš has come up with something to help us work together on a category of profiles that need our help. This time it's "orphans," i.e. profiles without Profile Managers.

Here is the list of orphaned profiles that could use some TLC.

Will you join us?

Every time you record a status update it will earn you a point. The member with the most points at 11:59pm EDT on Sunday night will get the Winner badge this week and the bragging rights. But we'll all benefit from a neater, cleaner shared tree.

If you're participating, please post here to let us know. It's nice to cheer each other on. Or post if you have any questions about how to participate.

Thanks for helping!

PS If you want to chat or coordinate what you are working on with others, in addition to this G2G post there is a handy spreadsheet courtesy of Steven Tibbetts.

Suggestion 853 - Please remember to cleanup and format the whole profile, Include Acknowledgements especially if it has a GedCom Name in it. We will need the GedCom name in the near future.

I am seeing a lot where just a heading is added or the entire profile has been deleted.

Thank you!  :)

I will do what I can.
Thank you so much!

Have a Great Week!

Regarding the gedcom name: Are you saying that when I cleanup a biography that needs a gedcom cleanup, the gedcom name should be retained in the biography so that it can be searched for and found in the future? Is there a specific preferred format and section that should be used for the gedcom name? The page at Help:GEDCOM-Created Biographies (wikitree.com) does not reference the gedcom name information.

Put it in Acknowledgements

==Acknowledgements==

This profile was created through xyz.ged
I agree with Loretta.  I have cleaned up a lot of profiles and worked on a lot of suggestions.  I move the gedcom statement from the top of the profile to an Acknowledgements section, creating that section, if needed. The gedcom statement is no different than the other statements about who started the profile, whether the profiles are sourced or not.  There are some gedcom that are obviously better sourced than others.
