JOSEPH ABBOT, b. at Andover, 24 Apr 1719 son of John and Elizabeth (Harnden) Abbot;[1][2] d. 30 Jan 1790 at Chester, MA;[3] m. at Andover, 12 Nov 1741,[4] his first cousin, HANNAH ABBOTT,[5] b. at Andover, 29 Dec 1721 daughter of Ebenezer and Hannah (Turner) Abbott;[6] Hannah d. 2 Jun 1805 at Chester.[7]
After their marriage and the birth of their first child, Joseph and Hannah relocated to the western part of Massachusetts, first in Lancaster and finally in Chester. Their children all married spouses from that general area of the state, and most of the children settled in Chester.
Joseph and Hannah had nine children, the birth of the oldest child recorded at Andover and the remainder recorded at Lancaster.

ii HANNAH ABBOTT, b. 23 Sep 1743; d. at Chester, 2 Mar 1802; m. 27 Sep 1774, as his second wife, JOHN NEWTON PARMENTER, b. at Boston, Sep 1742 son of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Bigelow) Parmenter; John d. 6 Dec 1828. John married Mrs. Dolly Blair 19 Feb 1806. John was first married to Lydia Baldwin.
iii ELIZABETH ABBOTT, b. 6 Jul 1746; m. 31 Jan 1779, JACOB FOWLE, b. at Lancaster, 14 Sep 1749 son of Jacob and Phebe (Osgood) Fowle. Elizabeth Abbott’s first cousin once removed, Priscilla Abbott, was the second wife of Jacob Fowle the elder, father of Jacob.
iv ABIEL ABBOTT, b. about 1749; d. at Chester, 7 Dec 1831; m. 23 Jan 1783, SARAH MANN, b. 12 Nov 1764 daughter of Nathan and Jane (Fleming) Mann; Sarah d. 22 Mar 1841.
v JOHN ABBOTT, b. 8 Oct 1751; d. 1798; m. 4 Feb 1775, LOIS BENNET, b. at Lancaster, 2 Sep 1757 daughter of Elisha and Lois (Wilder) Bennet. Lois seems to have remarried Aaron Bell 31 Jan 1811.
vi EBENEZER ABBOTT, b. 14 Oct 1753; m. 13 Dec 1781, ANNA WRIGHT, b. at Spencer, 23 Feb 1758 daughter of Edward and Tryphena (Hinds) Wright.
vii PHEBE ABBOTT, b. about 1756; there is no further record.
viii RELIEF ABBOTT, b. 11 May 1759; d. at Chester, 9 Feb 1817; m. 29 May 1784, JOHN WILLIAMS, b. at Middleborough, 23 Jan 1761 son of Larkin and Anna (Warren) Williams; John d. 28 Mar 1813.
ix DOROTHY ABBOTT, b. Dec 1762; d. 8 Mar 1848; m. 28 Dec 1784, ROBERT MOOR, possibly the Robert b. at Palmer, 1 May 1760 son of James and Elizabeth (Little) Moor, although there is also a Robert Moor born in Bolton son of John and Rhosanna who has been suggested; the family seems to have relocated to New York; Robert perhaps d. 26 Oct 1810 at Ulster County, New York.[9] It is possible that this family moved on from New York to perhaps Kentucky but that is not yet fully verified.
