DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jan by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jan:
There are four or five profiles for Jan, son of Jan Thomaszen (Eckerson) and Apollonia Cornelis (Swits) baptized in 1676. These profiles need to be merged.
I think Eckerson is a reasonable choice for LNAB. No records for him use a patronymic name. His marriage record calls him Jan Ekkinszen and the 7 September 1698 baptism record for his first son calls him Jan Eckeson Jr. These are both variant spellings of Eckerson
This Eckerson-140 profile, which is for all intents and purposes unsourced, appears to represent Jan, the son of Jan Thomaszen Eckerson and Apollonia Cornelis who was baptized in 1676. They were too young to have had a child in 1660 (the date currently shown on the profile). Assuming that this man is supposed to be their son, I am changing the birthdate to 1676.
