Biography

U.S. Southern Colonies Project logo
Isaac Basye was a Virginia colonist.

Isaac was born in 1671. He is the oldest child of Edmond Basye and Eliza Taylor he died October 8, 1739.[1]

That he married Elizabeth Pope can be inferred from Issac being mentioned in John Popes will and that he and Elizamon Basie are witness to John Popes Will.

In his will he lists, his wife Elizabeth, four sons and three daughters, "Son William Basye...Son Jesse Basye...Sons Edmond Basye, and John Basye...Daughter Winefred Basye...Daughter Judith Basye...wife Elizabeth Basye."[2] Third daughter is not named.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Isaac by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Isaac:

I ran across a source for the birth dates for the children. I also found a source that says Elizabeth and Issac were married in 1793 - though this source was unsourced. Mags

Basye-47 and Basye-7 appear to represent the same person because: Hi, can we merge these using your information? I am trying to clean up the extra Basyes. :)

Thanks, Deanna
