Biography

William Basye was the son of Edmond Basye and Eliza Taylor. He is named in his father's 1714 will.[1]

He was still lliving in 1753, when he was appointed as one of the administrators of the estate of William Smith in Northumberland County.[1]

Research Notes

William Barry Misidentification

Otto Basye also identifies this William as the "William Barry" who appears on the list of "Supernumeraries" who were listed as tithables in Northumberland County in 1679.[2] However, this appears to be an error as he would have been much to young to appear on a list of tithables at that time. It is likely that Edmond's son William had not even been born yet in 1679, and in any case he clearly was not old enough to have appeared on the tithables list.
