Biography

George Boone is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A012093.

Note: It appears that two George Boones were born to this family, one who died in 1738 at about 2 years old, and and one who died at about 80 in Kentucky. Both Georges show a January birth month in WikiTree profiles. The Boone Society shows only one George in this family, born January 2, 1739 (no death date shown).

George Boone was born January 2, 1739 [1] in Berks County, Pennsylvania to Squire and Sarah (Morgan) Boone.

George was an early settler of Fort Boonesborough,[2] and the younger brother of the famous explorer Colonel Daniel Boone.

He married Nancy Ann Linville November 28th, 1764, in Rowan County, North Carolina. By 1800 the family had migrated to Shelby County, Kentucky.

George Boone established Boone's Station[3] in 1780 on a site in what is now Madison County, Kentucky, about a mile and a half or two miles from the present courthouse in Richmond.

When his brother Squire Boone, Jr. built his fort where Shelbyville, Kentucky, now stands, George and his family went there to live.

George and Ann (Nancy) Linville Boone died in Shelby County, Kentucky, but their bodied were returned to Madison County for interment in the George Boone-Robert Harris graveyard near the site of Boone's Station at Cross Plains.

He died in Kentucky on November 11, 1820.[4] He was buried in Cross Plains, Kentucky, on November 14.[5]

On his tombstone in the old George Boone Robert Harris graveyard near Richmond Ky is this inscription George Boone Sen Departed this life 11 or 14 November 1820 aged 84 e Ann or Nancy Linville Boone died 28 March 1814 at about seventy years of age The inscription on her tombstone in the same cemetery mentioned in the paragraph above reads In memory of Ann Boone Wife of George Boone Sen departed this life the 28th day of March 1814 the mother of children grandchildren and great grandchildren 182.

Undoubtedly this is the same land which his parents transferred to him on 20 Jan 1810 To my dearly loved Sister Mariah Steel were willed the 2 negro girls Keda and Silvay to be hers after the death of her parents. Some notes of Edward Boone possibly his brother were given him under certain conditions. This will witnessed by Sally Simpson was signed on the 2nd day of October 1810 and was proven by the oath of Sally Simpson in the Shelby Co Court 18th of Nov 1811. This seems to prove conclusively that George Boone Jr died between 2 Oct 1810 and 18 Nov 1811.Concerning his grave we have this quotation A grave next to Mrs Ann Boone in the George Boone Robert Harris Cemetery near Richmond Ky HAS with the headstone broken and the letters scaled off 1885 piece of scale had 1810 on it and the footstone.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with George by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with George:

George Boone-113 is the son of Squire Boone-32. At least that is my information.

I would like to add Squire Boone (Boone-6947) as a son of George Boone (Boone-113) and Nancy Ann Linville Boone (Linville-9). Squire's Power of Attorney to William Boone dated 5 Feb 1821 in Shelby Co., KY (and other records) reveal he was their son. See: Shelby County (Kentucky). Clerk of the County Court, Deeds (Shelby County, Kentucky), 1792-1903, Deed Bk. S, p. 445, Film 259235. <https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS4L-Y3NC-B?i=492&cat=109965>.

His wife has a child that needs to be added to the husband, but PPP will not allow other members to do it, so a wikitree leader is required to do it.

Please add child ... https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Boone-5064

Thanks

The profile is unsourced, there is no "Anonymous" child of these parents. A child born in 1750 was born 14 years before this couple was married. I removed the mother from this profile as it was obviously incorrect.

Boone-5004 and Boone-113 appear to represent the same person because: I'm trying to merge Elizabeth Boone Copher with the one on my feed. However the person has her father has Boone Boone so I can not merge unless you can merge George first. Thanks so much 😊 Terri'
The Spring Clean-a-Thon 2017 New England Neatniks Team found an error in this profile, kindly update the findagrave link to 13707046 as this was linked to the one for this George's son. If it is not the same person, please delete the findagrave link.
Boone-113 and Boone-2199 appear to represent the same person because: George 2199 uploaded with my files, the birth date was similar and meant to relate to parents.
Do you have any data on this profile? There are a lot of George Boones....no idea who this is supposed to be. Can you help with just a little more data, since you have one of the lower number profiles?
