Biography

John Bowman, the son of Jacob Bowman and Varena Unknown., was born about 1743 when his parents were still living in Pennsylvania. The family later moved to Washington County, Maryland about 1750. John married Esther ____ and their first child, John Bowman, Jr, was born about 1765 in Washington County, Maryland. Their 9 children were John, Susannah, Mary, David, Catherine, Jacob, Elizabeth, Benjamin, and Esther. By 1793 John and Esther Bowman had moved into Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. About 1804 the family moved to Montgomery County, Ohio, near Dayton. In 1822 they moved to Nettle Creek, Wayne County, Indiana where John died about 1830. ^[1]

John was born in 1740. He passed away in 1840. While he did marry a woman in Maryland who was named Esther, her LNAB was not French.
