With his father, Peyton Butcher , came to Randolph in early day and purchased land and there dwelt several years. After reaching Wood county, he engaged in milling business and for years he managed the grist and saw mill at Claysville, known as the George Creel Mill, bald Eagle Ripple. He was born 28 of June 1786 and died 26 Jan 1853. He weed 10 Dec 1810 in Beverly, Elizabeth, daughter of George Renick of Hardy. She was born 1 Jan 1791 and died 14 May 1850. She was one of the family so celebrated in Indian era for bravery; endurance and tact. They are buried in the Kincheloe-Vandiver enclosure on the old fame now the Poor Farm of the county. The two story frame dwelling is still standing close to the Baltimore and Ohio railroad track, opposite the sation at Davisville. It was build by Thomas Glasscock, one of the best carpenters in the county. In Spet 1810 Samuel Ball deeds to Payton Butcher 2000 acres on the Gauley river. [2]
On December 10, 1810 in Beverly, now West Virginia, Peyton Butcher married Elizabeth Renick, daughter of George Renick of Hardy County, then Virginia. Elizabeth was born January 1, 1791, died May 14, 1850. They were the parents of eight children: [3]

Samuel Butcher born Sept 11, 1811, married April 17, 1836, Jane, born in Wood County November 26, 1814, died August 2, 1888, daughter of James and Eleanor Dawkins. Another source: Samuel, born in 1811, married Jane Melrose, daughter of James and Eleanore Dawkins Melrose. Melrose was in the war of 1812. They raised a large family.[4]
Effie, born Nov 29, 1814 was married Dec 6, 1832 to Burr Triplett, son of Major Robert Triplett of St Marys, Pleasants County, now West Virginia. Burr Triplett was born April 11, 1803, died Apr 28, 1882, no record of her death, nine children; Another source: He died in 1890, and is buried at the Triplet graveyard, at Willow Island[4]
Harrison Butcher, born Apr 11, 1817, m May 25, 1858, Malinda Young Long of KY, she died July 3 1892. Harrison served 3 years (1859-62 in the Confederate army). They resided at Allen, Collins County, TX, no children: :#John Addison Butcher, b Aug 9, 1819, m Nov 3, 1842, Eleanor, b Dec 26, 1825, died July 8, 1890, he died Nov 24, 1883, resided at Beverly, 10 children. Another source: John A., born in 1819, married Eleanor Dawkins, daughter of Thomas. Thomas Peyton was their son, and Benjamin Neal Butcher was a grandson. Deborah, Emily and Peyton were other children. [4]

Burrell Butcher born May 6, 1828, married Feb 7, 1871, Bridget Dailey (born in Ritchie county, now West Virginia in 1853, he died in 1891, no children,
Thomas Jefferson, born Sept 20, 1830 Married Dec 7, 1854, Lodemia Lee, born 1832 and died in 182, his death is unknown. Another source: Thomas Jefferson, another son, married Lodena Lee. Of their children, two were residents of Jackson County, Burr and John, who lived on Big Run. [4]
