Early Settler at Boswyck (Bushwick), Long Island, New Netherland

On March 14, 1661 Johannes Caspertsz (Springsteen), along with his brother Joost Caspersz (Springsteen), were two of the 23 settlers of Boswick to sign a formal request presented to Stuyvesant on his visit there (the town had just been named by Director Stuyvesant earlier that day). The request included: pasture and meadow for cattle, four roads so they could transport goods to and from various kills (creeks) and meadows, and enforcement of the law that all locals within the jurisdiction had to live within the town. This visit by Stuyvesant was just over a year since he ordered the new town surveyed and 22 lots marked out, for the original settlement.[3]

Springsteen-31 and Caspers-34 appear to represent the same person because: This is the oldest paternal ancestor in this chain in need of a merge into the patronymic NNS PPP. No tree conflicts. Thanks!
