Hi Lori, I’m trying to identify a couple DNA matches. You have a few names that I am looking for. O’Dell, Drake are two. I have Drake associated with Dunn family also they are from the 1700-1800s east coast NJ , and KY

If you have any information about these families please let me know. Thanks, Susan

Hi Susan, I am not of the NJ Drake line. I know a lot of research is out there on them though. I am researching Michael Drake born about 1753. You can find a lot on the O'Dell family on Family Search.

What Drake and O'Dell names are you researching?

Hi Lori, thanks for your reply. I’m working on a DNA match between cousins, one of whom is on my tree and the other isn’t. Their shared matches include the names, O’Dell, Drake, and many others.

The Drake line I’m looking at for them in the NJ. Piscataway settlers.

I have my own Drake ancestors in the mid-Atlantic region.

Hi Lori,

Thanks for having a Big Heart and adopting Orphan Profiles. You will want to read this After adopting orphans FAQ to understand what to do next and it explains the special attention those profiles need.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Lori,

Thank you for your enthusiasm about improving profiles like Duyts-3.

Please do not send editing suggestions for specific profiles to the WikiTree project account as private messages. "The project" does not have a monopoly on editing the profiles it manages and we do not have the physical resources to make every edit.

Sharing your research on the profile is a more effective way to communicate about early genealogy than private messages are. If you have reliably sourced information about a person, you can add it the profile yourself (after verifying that the content isn't there already). If you are hesitant to add it to the profile text, post a message on the profile (as I am doing here on yours), so other members interested in the profile also can see it. Note, however, that reliable sources are required for pre-1700 profiles, and FamilySearch online family trees are very unreliable. See this page for information on sources for New Netherland.

Make Sure you refresh the profile after a merge. Also allow time for edits. After a merge you are told by wiki tree to edit the bio. Not everyone does. The "uncle" profile you refer to is probably William P Drake and I did go back and correct that after the merge. Someone else entered him as Uncle Will Drake. I entered him William Parrot Drake. Now Will or Uncle Will is in the nickname field.
Lori, regarding your comment about merges and mistakes, I'm not sure which profiles you mean. I did confirm about 4 or 5 merges tonight that people had asked me to do, and I do not merge lightly. All the merges I did had the same spouses, parents, children, etc. Some of mine have images of death certificates I have found on family search. I am trying to find more documents like that to upload and share.
Lori -

My interest in the Drake family was because Francis, Robert's son, had a daughter Elizabeth that married Hugh Dunn about 1680. Beyond her I really didn't have much info. It looks like a lot of people have a lot more info since I first entered the family. When new people add new info often they duplicate members such as you will see now with Robert's family. These all need to be merged and now that you have permission to update his file, please do so. Terri Wahlberg Crowell
