I just completed biographies with in-line sourcing & headstone photos for Joseph Baldwin-6412 & Thankful Clark-22651. Her parents are listed on her birth record as Thomas & Sarah Clark. Her birth year is 1736, not 1738. There are birth records for their four daughters, & death records for both Joseph & Thankful. There is 'conflated' information in Thankful Clark's FamilySearch site that shows a marriage record for her with a James Baldwin dated 28 Sep 1758 at Griswold, CT and a birth record for a son with James, Elisha (b. 13 Mar 1759). I did a quick search and found a birth record for James Baldwin (b. 24 May 1735; d. 1761) parents John & Mary Baldwin, along with the same marriage record with Thankful Clark & birth record for Elisha. It could be that Thankful married 1) James Baldwin and following his death in 1761, married 2) Joseph Baldwin. There is strong supportive sourcing for Joseph and Thankful's children and their deaths and burials. I will try to garner more sourcing for this Thankful and James over this weekend to determine two marriages for Thankful, or if there were two different Thankfuls.

Her name would have been Thankful Baldwin when she married Joseph Baldwin, if she was then a widow.

I have found birth records for the children of Joseph Baldwin and Thankful, however it does not provide his wife's LNAB.

Found marriage of Joseph Baldwin and Thankful Baldwin at Canterbury.

Hello Chris, die you see my Comment above? I am never sure how to use these 'Comments'. I have listed all of the birth records for Joseph and Thankful's children on their profiles last night. You can access them on Baldwin-6412 or Clark-22651. I also included two death records, one of which states 'Joseph in entry for Thankful Baldwin.' This would strongly suggest that Thankful 'Clark' was married to Joseph Baldwin and her parents are correct. ["Connecticut, Charles R. Hale Collection, Vital Records, 1640-1955", database, FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F726-X4J : 16 September 2020), Joseph in entry for Thankful Baldwin, 1824.] Her name was Thankful 'Clark' on the marriage record to James Baldwin. I did some further investigating and also used Ancestry family files. It appears as though she was married to both men. James first and Joseph second. I was not able to find a marriage record to Joseph; however, the circumstantial birth records for the children and death records for Joseph and Thankful indicate that this is the same Thankful. So we are on the same page. I will be connecting the two Thankfuls shortly, then will add the information about James Baldwin. I have also identified his parents in the Baldwin Genealogy. I own an original copy. Thank you, Chris. Might you also make the marriage record for Joseph and Thankful available for their profiles? Regards, Carol

Her second marriage to Joseph was at Canterbury as noted above on her profile. See Canterbury Marriages.

Hello Chris, I have just initiated a merge for Clark-22651 and Clark-13752. It awaits your approval. I would very much appreciate it if you do the merge if you could keep ALL of the biography, in-line sourcing and photos that I added to Thankful (Clark) Baldwin-Baldwin and to Josepth Baldwin. I have made a copy of my bio, etc. for her in the event it gets nuked. Thank you, Carol

I think I preserved all of them but you might want to check.

On final observation. I have James Baldwin's parents listed as John Baldwin and Mary 'Northrup', not Adams. His parents will need to be verified. Thank you! Carol

If you look at his father's profile, the Canterbury marriage record says Mary Adams.

Clark-22651 and Clark-13752 are not ready to be merged because: Very conflicting information. Some texts say Thankful Clark that married Joseph Baldwin, married first James Baldwin who died in 1761and that Thankful was the daughter of James Clark and Thankful Woodward. Other sources say Thankful daughter of James Clark died aged about 11. Needs more research
