Biography

Charlotte Frances Dalrymple Clark was born in about 1837 and was baptised on 8 September 1837 at St. Nicholas, Brighton, Sussex^[1]. She was the daughter of John Clark and Charlotte Sophia Dalrymple.

In the 1861 England Census, Charlotte T Clark (aged 23) was recorded living with her father John Clark (61, Major General Army), her mother Charlotte T Clark (44) and her siblings Margaret H M Clark (16), Edmund T J Clark (12), Henry W Clark (9), Evelyn H D Clark (4) and Julian W S Clark (2) at 62 Landsdowne Place, Hove, Sussex. Also in the household was one servant, Ann W Collin (25).

Her mother Charlotte died on 17 December 1864 at age 48, and her father Major General John Clark died three months later, on 22 March 1865 at about age 63.

After the death of her parents, Charlotte continued to live in Brighton, Sussex. In 1871 she was recorded as the head of the household at 4 Clifton Hill in Brighton, aged 33. Also in the household were her two sisters Margaret H Clark (26) and Marion E Clark (9), along with two servants.

By 1881, Charlotte Frances Clark (aged 43) was the head of the household at Tatchley Cottage, Winchcombe Road, Prestbury, Gloucestershire, England. Still living with her were her two sisters Margaret H M Clark (36) and Marion E M Clark (19), along with two servants.

Charlotte continued to live at Gloucestershire until at least 1911.

She was residing at 8 Duke Street, Bath when she passed away on 27 June 1916, unmarried, and was buried on 30 June 1916 at St. Mary The Virgin Churchyard, Bathwick, Bath and North East Somerset Unitary Authority, Somerset, England^[2][3]. PLOT: G.I.9

Her Will was proved on 27 July 1916 at Bristol to her spinster sister Margaret Helen Mary Clark^[4]. Effects: £2045 0s. 2d.
