Biography

Drusilla Clelland^[1] was born on 6 February 1793 in Monongalia County, Virginia,^[2] the sixth of eight known children and the second of three daughters of James and Ann Pierpoint Clelland.

Alternate year of birth: Abt 1785.^[3]

Alternate year of birth: Abt 1810, VA.^[4][5][6]

In 1806, when she was about thirteen, she married David Morgan, most likely in Monongalia County, though no record of their marriage has been found.^[7] She bore him two known children, a so and a daughter:

1. Oliver Morgan
2. Angeline Morgan.

On 15-16 March 1859, when she was sixty-six, she died of unknown causes in Winterset, Madison County, Iowa.

She is buried in Saint Charles in the Saint Charles Cemetery.^[8]

Possible ancestry of Ann Pierpoint. There appears to be no proof as to the parents of the Ann Pierpoint who married James Clelland and had fourteen children between 1775 and the early 1800s. Three children were born after 1800. She was probably born between 1754-1759. It is possible that she was the daughter of Larkin Pierpoint and Sarah Simmons who married in MD in 1730. The Ann Pierpoint who was the daughter of John and Ann Gassaway (Galloway) witnessed a marriage at Elk Ridge,Ann Arundel Co. MD in 1787 and therefore cannot be the Ann Pierpoint who married James Clelland. There was more than one Drusilla Clelland. The information that I have is that she was the daughter of James and Ann Pierpoint Clelland. Sister to John.

"I believe that you are talking about James Cleland (Clelland), son of James MacClelland and Ann Pierpont. b. 1780 and d. aft 1850 in Taylor County VA. James Clelland was first married to Massie Wilson and had five children (John, James, Rebecca, Massy and Mary). Then he married Sarah "Sally" Morgan, dau. of Zacquill Morgan and Drusilla Springer. They had two children Druscilla Clelland and Zacquill Clelland. There are several Morgans within our family. Are you a descendant of the Prickett family?
