Robert Coker was born about 1606 in England. Judging from his sailing companions, it is possible he was from Wiltshire in England.[1]
The parents of Robert Coker are at present unknown. He was previously linked to Robert Coker and his wife Amy of Mappowder in Dorset. This couple had several children and their second son Robert was born in 1605-6.[2] This Robert of Mappowder however died in 1543 and was buried in his local church. His memorial mentions his parents.[3] He also left a will that also clearly links him both to his parents and several siblings.[4] A new profile for their son Robert has been created.

He resided at Newbury, Massachusetts Bay where he is found on a list of church members dated April 1671. He took the Oath of Allegiance there in 1678.[1] He was granted 9 acres of land by the town of Newbury and on January 7, 1651/2 he bought four acres from Francis Plumer. Regarding the offices he held, he was on the Essex Petit jury on March 27, 1655 and was the Newbury constable in March of 1656.

I've added the section, not sure if in right place or if all the refs were necessary. (they are on the new profile)
I've found and transcribed his will, He probably died in 1643 as stated by Hutchins(he wrote his will on the 11th Sept, 10 days before the death date given by Hutchins though probate wasn't until 1647) transcript The will confirms his relationship to his mother Amy, father William, sister Ann https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Coker-396 who has a bio and to brother William, sister, Mary wife of Charles Brune; buried at Puddletwon memorials at Puddletown and sister Elizabeth Jeffrey. see also 1623 Visitation Dorset
There is one memorial in the parish church at Mapowder that reads:
To the memory of Amy Coker, eldest daughter of Thomas Moldford of Chulmely in ye countie of Devon, esq and second wife of Robert Coker of Mapowder, esq whoe dyed ye 7th of July, 1648, and in the 73rd yeare of her age.
underneath the arms of Coker
On the base of the same monument,in the same letters Heere lyeth the body of Robert Coker, gent, second sone of Robert Coker abovesayd by Amy Coker his second wife, who dyed the 21 day of September in ye 38 year of his age, 1643,by whose will this monument was erected Regretably the parish register for this period no longer exists. The memorial may still exist but can't promise to visit in the near future! (but on this kind of detail Hutchins is usually accurate)
