Biography

My Family.
Lori spends way too much time on WikiTree.
Lori Cook is a member of the Cook Name Study Project.

My wonderful parents are: Don Cook and Linda Whitney

My siblings and I were Raised in Boise, ID and moved to Oregon with our parents in 1970.

My Dad Don, -Dad was raised Mormon when he was young, he had many family documents and he handed them down to me to keep in the Family Bible.

He moved all of the family to Molalla, OR where we grew up enjoying fishing, camping and the outdoors. We got to do so much of this in Idaho he wanted to make sure that we never missed out on any of it, even though we moved. He never got to enjoy this kind of life until he married mom and her family took hold of him and showed him what nature and the love of the outdoors was all about.

My Mother Linda, -Mom was truly involved in tracing her lineage by mail and on paper before the internet made research much easier..... Her gr grandparents, grandparents, parents, cousins etc., gave her information, Family bibles, records and many many photos to put it all together.
Norwegian Roots
Lori Cook has Norwegian ancestors

I then, several years ago began to put it into place. In 2006 mom got sick and her memory started to fade. In 2004 I transferred it onto ancestry.com and continued where she left off. This tree is visible to all, I had no idea at the time of where to go to put it all into one place, and not have the millions of paper documents that can perish in time. She passed in 2021, I am so thankful that I learned so much from her and the the genealogy bug passed on to me.

I have much more to add and the time I have depends on work and schedules at home. I am carrying on where she left off and am still growing this family tree.

Our Lives Continue--PAST to PRESENT to the FUTURE

Our Legacy

I love to see where we have been and where we are going. A family is always continuing and I love being part of that and working with my mom on this endeavor.

I have had the honor to meet many cousins along the way, our relations are quite large and continue to grow. I love the connecting and with that research always continues to find the answers all are looking for.

I recently had my DNA tested to help another family cousin to find a lost member. It is quite wonderful to have had the opportunity to help in anyway I could to provide more information to make connections.

I have over 10,000 family members recorded on my Ancestrytree at this time and here I do not have them all because I would have to upload so much. So this will be a slow process for me to redo here. I will probably begin with immediate descendants to connect to this World Tree.

LET THE CONNECTIONS BEGIN

I enjoy finding the proper paperwork to go with the history: Family Bible, Certificates of Birth and Death, Military Info, Naturalization Papers, Immigration, Wedding Cert, Baptisms etc. Many items I have on hand personally which is so terrific.

Research Research Research

Info found on Ancestry can be good IF used correctly and then when found research to prove. I was lucky and have many pieces of these papers and photos that were handed down from years ago and left in the family Bibles for today's researching families. I see that these people are just not my family, as I am proud to say, but we are one huge family interconnected and I wish to share what I have with all.

I also have near 2000 photos (many more not scanned yet). If you see a family member of yours I may have more photos just ask, I would love to share.

I have many relatives to set up with proper sources, so I will be here and very busy.

My Ancestry Tree is Holm/Porter/Whitney/Cook [1]
I am a Find A Grave Member
I also work on FamilySearch.org
Belong to WRG- Whitney Research Group
My DNA Kit is A377136

I do not belong to the The Church of Latter Day Saints, I did when I was a child in Boise, Idaho. I can do research for assistance though. if needed. I can help in many ways

Completed GEDcompare to most people, too many in my GEDcom to load all.
I connected my over 10000 family connections by hand instead of uploading as it made it much easier going one on one to make sure they were complete--in doing so I find my DNA connections much easier alongwith connecting to the ones already here--It was great and with less mistakes. (The mistakes are there but they seem to be fewer)

I also being a member of Find A Grave, I find myself searching for cemeteries and people with profiles without dates being an area I like to solve with records for their lives and add when I can, many are not even related but profile is minimal to completely empty. I add to at least get some info on the profile so they can be connected where they need to be.

Hello Lori!

During the winter, the Nordic Project performed check-ins, sent as a private message from your profile. You are one of those members who has not replied, and this is a last chance to get in touch and let me know if you like to continue as a member of the Norway sub-project within the Nordic Project.

Please answer this comment, and get in touch by sending me a private message. If we have not heard from you within a month you will be removed from the Nordic google group and your badge will be removed.

If you have not received any check-in emails, you might want to check that your email adress for WikiTree is one you actually still use.

Thank you!

Re: John Viles and Mary Warren. She is often listed as "Mara" and was the half-sister of his first wife, Hannah Warren. Surname also "Warrin" in the Waltham VR with note of "Warren" spelling in Mass Records.

Thanks for contributing to the Talley family profiles. Could you please provide a source for the change you made of Pease as the middle name for Edwin P Talley? In all documents located thus far there is no evidence as to what the initial P stood for.
I haven't finished but do plan to add it, Thanks Karen

Thanks Lori for doing research on Polly Roberts' parentage. If you come to the conclusion that there is not sufficient evidence to place her as the daughter of Eleazer Davis and Sarah Cook, we can remove them as parents.

Once again, thank you!

Hi Lori,

I noticed that you were currently following the CEMETERIES tag, but were not yet a member of the Cemeteries Global Cemeteries Project. If you are interested in more details about the project, or are just ready to sign up, please head on over to our G2G Welcome Post for more information.

I look forward to seeing you around the tree!

Thank you Steve for inviting me,

I belonged a while back, but I do not get out enough to work on photos like I used to. I do belong to FAG and right now I send sourcing to FAG memorials to add births or deaths to correct the FAG memorials. I send bio info when it is needed. (especially the ones I seem to be working on)

I will join when I have more of a chance to help in this area. This is a very important project.

Happy Researching, Lori

Hi Lori,

We’ve made some exciting changes to the Global Cemeteries Project. The sub-projects have been merged into the Global Project to help with Leadership and to facilitate collaboration.

Some roles within the project have changed. From now on, there are Project Coordinators for each continent, and one for Welcome and Integration, plus Team Leaders for each individual Country etc.

Please let me know if you’d like to stay on in the new project, if you’d like to continue in an existing role, and which team(s) you’d like to be on. Please also give me your e-mail address so that I can get you added to the project’s Google Group.

Many thanks,

Susie

Hi Lori, We are both paper-descendants of William Fitch. I just did a DNA compare with GEDMATCH (the new genesis version) and it confirmed a common ancestor!

"Largest segment = 10.1 cM

Total Half-Match segments (HIR) = 10.1 cM (0.3 Pct) Estimated number of generations to MRCA = 5.2

William is my 4th-great grandfather.

Hi Lori,

We are 4th cousins 1x removed. Garrett Walls Mikesell, doing DNA helped build my mother's tree, she didn't know her father growing up. I see we are a match, thanks for your profile, you have me inspired to write my own experience.

He can also let you know the earliest Graves immigrant which is your ancestor. I hope this can really help you. I would love to get an update, if you have the time. Thanks! The best in your search. Hi Lori,

My Whitney line starts with my 3xgreat grandmother Anna Whitney (1783-1857) who married Samuel Foster (1777-1857). From there it goes back from Billerica MA to Stow MA to Watertown MA. Whitney became a family first name and was my great grandfather's, my father's and my brother's . I'm new to Wikitree and still learning how to use it so excuse my foibles. I live in MA and Anna'S grave is in my local cemetery. I haven't been to any other Whitney graves or learned much about them.
